Testimonials from 'The One Movement' Launch Event on Nov. 3rd & 4th, 2017 when asked what the highlights were for the attendees in an anonymous survey:
"Highlights for me would be the times of worship and the teaching session by the speakers. All of the speakers were excellent and very high quality. The topics were relevant, easy to understand, and practical for my life. I thoroughly enjoyed the panel discussions which gave a lot of wisdom and different perspectives from different cultures. It was a phenomenal weekend and I would love to do it all again!"
"I learned so much. And the One Movement really opened my eyes up to just how important these issues are and that we have to want to make changes."
"Worship was amazing and Spirit-filled!"
"The worship...and the Panel discussions- they were real and very much necessary- things were said that have needed to be brought out for a long time. So excellent!"
"I enjoyed the panel discussion. Very enlightening but not enough time. I wanted more."
"Really loved hearing the two friends tell about their friendship. All the personal stories helped us better understand some of the hurts that others are carrying. Most of us are aware of what God's word calls us to do - the being real about our failings and not taking offense of others failings. Learning how we all need to work through these in real life situations and helping talk others through. The skit was really fun : )"
"The oneness in Christ amidst a lovely and diverse group of women!"
"Talking about real issues in honest vulnerable ways. Hearing the leaders admit their own insecurities and biases and hearing their hearts..."
"Barbara McElvy was so moving...I loved the worship teams and group. The overall experience was great! I don't always enjoy giving up my entire Saturday for conferences, but this one was well worth it."
"As a young white woman, I have been intentional about working towards racial reconciliation for the last 12 years. The Lord opened my eyes when I moved to the city in 2005. I've spent a lot of time listening to my brothers and sisters and reading and learning. My heart has been broken more times than I can recount and so unity is an issue I have become very passionate about. I have to admit that I have become disheartened by how apathetic my white friends and family and the community in general is about these issues. Sharing my experiences and what I have learned is often met with a resistance and defensiveness that is difficult for me to understand. All that to say, I spent much of the morning on Saturday in tears because I was so touched to hear your vision and your hearts for this issue. Not only were you sincere but you were also very intentional to call out the apathetic and include other minorities in leadership at this conference. Thank you!!!! I have also seen that my generation is much more willing to take this seriously while the older generation tends to be more apathetic. Thank you for taking this as seriously as you did and inviting us along for the ride. I can't describe how healing it was to see middle-aged white women truly and sincerely care about this issue. You all did my heart good!!!!"
